The Sierra Leone International Airport forms
the first and last impression to visiting international air travelers and foreigners.
As a result of a familiarization and institutional
risk assessment tour conducted by officers of the Anti-Corruption Commission,
it was observed that the Aviation Industry and other allied departments were
vulnerable to many anomalies some of which border on capacity building and logistics
to enhance a corrupt free work environment.
In a bid to launder the image of the country,
the ACC in collaboration with SLAA and other stakeholders are working assiduously
to develop a frame work that would entails areas of vulnerability and abuse;
as well as to proffer preventive recommendations for a Best Practice Guide which
will not only face-lift the image of the Freetown International Airport and
the country as a whole but will also improve on accountability and transparency
in revenue generation that will beef up the revenue base of this sector.
The Commission encourages suggestions from the
general public to be posted in the suggestion box at the ACC premise for the
way forward in enhancing an efficient airport system under the management of
the Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA).
Let us all join hands in the fight against corruption.
